Goole, Yorkshire 13th February 2007

The impressive North Eastern Railway platform awnings at Goole station (1869) still stand on both Up & Down sides but the red-brick buildings have been replaced by a flimsy modern glass & steel-framed ticket office. The signal box controls the busy level crossing on Goole's town centre main road. In former years the railway must have been much busier too because pedestrian underpasses have been constructed on both sides of the road.

This view is looking south & Thorne station is the next, and last, NER on the line to Thorne Junction & Doncaster via the Great Central Line. Goole Docks are in the distance off-left from this shot.
